Featured photo - Frozen Wave
I have just returned from an amazing trip to the Lofoten Islands in Arctic Norway with a couple of fellow photographers. The Lofoten Islands are a landscape photographer’s dream – rugged coast with abrupt peaks rising directly from the ocean, small fishing villages nestled in fjords…
This particular image was taken on a remote beach called Haukland beach and depicts a wave pattern washed into the fresh snow from the incoming tide. I had seen similar patterns before but none as symmetrical and well placed as this one. I had to be quick setting up all my gear as the pattern got washed away by the waves shortly after.
The image is a good example of how I use my ultra-wide angle lenses. My Nikon 14-24 was just a few inches away from the snow (@ 14mm) placing much greater emphasis on the foreground and really drawing one’s eyes to the image.
